Essential information you need to know
When can we see the Northern Lights?

There is no assurance and no definite schedule to view the Northern Lights as it is a natural phenomenon. These factors have to be present for the Aurora to be easily visible:

1. High Solar Activity
2. Clear Skies
3. Minimal Moonlight or Minimal Light Pollution

What's assuring is that you will be joining a tour which puts this on top of the priority list.

We WILL hunt for the Northern Lights for as long as conditions are favorable and we will NOT charge extra for this.

Tour Leaders are also very knowledgeable and study daily Aurora forecasts. So far, we have 100% sightings in all our previous Iceland tours + we have the right camera and tripods to take your photos!

For the first 9 nights of the tour - we will be staying in the Aurora Zone - which means that if we get favorable conditions stated above, there is a high chance we will see it.

Why are we moving hotels?

The tour is designed to cover Northern Finland and Northern Norway. We will be covering huge distances, hence to save on time and long drives, it is necessary to move hotels almost everyday. The time saved by not having to drive back, will give the group better flexibibility leave later the next morning and better enjoy breakfast. Moving hotels also helps in the chances of seeing the Northern Lights. There are instances that weather is better in one area than the other, giving us more chances to see the Aurora.

Is the food in Finland and Norway good?

As we will be exploring the Northern parts of both Norway and Finland, we will be coming across the Sami Cuisine. These are local, traditional food made out of fish, reindeer, and game meats. However, we have already scouted and noted some notable restaurants in the areas we will be travelling in that gives a good variety of options beyond traditional meals. Options would include pasta, pizza, fusion dishes, burgers, and soups. During the tour, we will be giving out suggestions and options as to where you can choose to eat in the area.

How are the activities? Do we need to be fit?

In our activity lists, we have chosen activities that are relatively easy to moderate. Some examples are:

1. Polar Ice Breaker Experience - A relaxed Icebreaker cruise with Ice Swimming Experience
2. Husky Ride / Sled - a smooth ride via a sled with huskies
3. RIB King Crab Safari - a relaxed ride over a frozen fjord
4. Reindeer & Sami Experience - a leisurely experience with the reindeer
5. Northern Lights Hunt - wait for the lights to be visible

However, there will be moderate to long walks in some stops. It is advisable to exercise / be active prior to joining this tour. There are other factors too that can make an easy hike challenging like strong winds, rain etc.

The most challenging activity would be the hike to the top of Reinebringen - the best viewpoint in the Lofoten Islands. It will be a steady climb with fixed trails and steps for around 1 hour to the top. However, this will be an optional activity. Others may opt to stay in town and enjoy the view from below.

Is it expensive in Norway & Finland?

A normal average meal costs around 1500 pesos.

Water is, however, free and clean to drink anywhere you go.

Commodities and souvenir items are relatively expensive. Shopping for clothes and other brands will have limited options. We suggest to do this in major European cities you may visit before or after the tour.
